What can someone do with Sharepoint?
Tools like SharePoint can take away some of the pain of colaborating and easily do things that were difficult before.
Imagine this scenario : I start a new project and I need to start a team. I create an online home for the project by starting a new SharePoint site. To help fill up the team, I identify potential team members with special skills using search. Within minutes, I find 2 graphic designers in the company and I contact them about the project. Once the team is formed, the 2 designers learn that they have more in common thanks to SharePoint blogs. They can learn things about each other which can build a solid team foundation. For this project there is little worry about atachements and version control. SharePoint becomes the source for everything related to the project.
All documents live and share in SharePoint where there is only one version. The same is true for calendars. The team which shares a calendar will never has to guess the meeting times or do dates. You can also use budget spreadsheets. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel you can search SharePoint for documents from other projects that can help to start quickly. The same is true for existing databases and networks within the company. SharePoint plugs into this systems so you can access sales data, inventory numbers and contact information. It not only connects people but allows to see the big picture of a company.
